What's It About....

During the weekend.........

You might play and jam,
....take in a session or workshop
....enjoy the Saturday night blowout with various solo and group performances....or even perform!
....dance in the following contra dance or join the pubsing until the wee hours
You might jam in a crowd,
    ....play with a few others,
        ....or noodle in a corner
            ....or take some quiet time.

You might be involved in a tango workshop
....learn Klezmer or Breton or Scottish or Irish or Balkan
...see how to fix your concertina or accordion, talking to people that repair and make them.
...browse and "test-drive" all kinds of instruments (they're as different as people; take this opportunity to find your musical soulmate!)
....ask questions and get answers (that you'd never find anywhere else!)
....learn some new subtleties of your box and find out, finally, how to play that tricky passage that's had you stumped.

All are welcome...
....other instruments (they round out the sound: pipes, fiddle, mandolin, recorder, hurdy-gurdy, whatever, it's all good),
....even the raw beginner needing help at getting a start..

This is a warm, friendly place, a Brigadoon weekend for squeezers.

It's all here, all in a free-wheeling, free spirit that we make up as we go along, differently each year.  There are no paid performers; we're just in it for the fun.  We welcome beginner and advanced squeezers alike. To get more information, there's the FAQ, you can search the NESI website with Google (it's simple)....and
you can sign on for our mailing lists to ask questions of other participants and get notifications & news.

Playing, jamming, sessions and workshops here, there and everywhere Friday afternoon, all Saturday and Sunday morning

The sessions and workshops are coordinated on a event board...here's how it works

On Saturday night, there's the Concert

You can listen to the Concerts here

Afterwards, there's a contra dance

When It Is

The Squeeze-In is held on a weekend, Friday afternoon through Sunday noon, generally in mid-September.  Depending on various considerations (site booking conflicts, religious holidays and the like), it may happen anywhere from an early September weekend to one in October.  Next year's date are usually published on the NESI website by late October following that year's NESI

The NorthEast Squeeze-In is brought to by SIORGs,  its organizers, who toil mightily behind the scenes to bring you a delightful weekend that just seems to happen magically.  We pay the same as everyone else, but get the satisfaction of your smiles.
